ALYCIA’S BOUDOIR SESSION
When I first scheduled this session, it was to be for Valentine’s Day, but I ended up traveling for work and had to reschedule. I’ve felt terrible the last few years do to Covid and being a registered nurse, having a baby, and obtaining my Bachelor’s degree, and just being a mom, wife, and friend. I never take time for me. My time is precious. I never wear makeup. I wear scrubs or “mom clothes” (picture sweats, shorts, oversized t-shirts, and a messy bun). This session made me feel so beautiful! I didn’t even recognize myself!! It has been such a confidence booster! I originally did this for my husband as a surprise, but after a conversation with Shannon and thinking about it more, I did this for me. I’ve never felt so pampered, beautiful, and confident. -Alycia

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session?
I’ve been wanting to do a session for awhile, but was always scared.
What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your photo shoot?
I searched her reviews and when she called to go over the initial information, I was sold. She is absolutely wonderful and pleasant!
How would you rate your photo shoot experience on a scale 1-10?

How did the reality of your session compare to your expectations going into it?
I didn’t have any expectations! I was really nervous! The reality of the session was way better than anything I imagined!
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the image reveal?
The session and the reveal were my absolute favorite! During the session, you feel like such a star! My makeup and hair were on point. I didn’t realize how beautiful I could look until I saw my hair, makeup, and images!
Did you leave your photo shoot worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
No. They slayed my makeup! I couldn’t have been happier! I looked absolutely beautiful!!
Did you leave your boudoir experience worried that the posing felt awkward?
I initially did feel awkward, but after Shannon explained and showed me unedited pictures, I was absolutely blown away. In my head, I was like “Wow, whatever she tells me, I’m doing!”
What were you more nervous about—the session or the image reveal? Why?
The session! I’m a fluffy gal and very self conscious. Shannon and her team made me feel so comfortable and like a star!
Did you arrive to the image reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?
No. Shannon was kind enough to show me a few pictures after she shot them during the session. I just kept thinking , “If she makes me look that good without edits, wowzers!” Giving me a sneak peak really helped to ease those worries!
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
Oh my gosh! Is that me? Wow! I look incredible!
How did shooting this boudoir session change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? How has the experience affected your morale?
I definitely feel more confident! When I left my session, I felt like I could do anything. I even went to the grocery store looking like a star!
Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
Yes, I do! I hate my smile. I’m learning to love my body. Shannon and her team are so uplifting and positive. They really know what they are doing!
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
I still don’t feel entirely photogenic but there were a few tips and tricks Shannon taught me that I’m going to use!
Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
I was scared they would he judgmental or not get great pictures.
Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Yes! Once I felt comfortable, it was so great. It didn’t take me long to feel comfortable at all!
Would you recommend a boudoir photo shoot with Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends? Why or why not?
Absolutely I would recommend! Every girl should feel beautiful and empowered!! It’s a huge confidence boost! I wear scrubs, throw my hair up, and no makeup since I’m a nurse. It felt so great to feel so beautiful!!
Is there anything at all you wish we would have done differently or think we could do to further enhance the experience in the future?
I wouldn’t have changed a thing!!! Keep up the great work. All your attention to detail and preparation are worth it!!
