Maria works for a major financial corporation where she specializes in fraud & dispute cases, she’s engaged to be married later this month, and she and her husband-to-be are parents to two fur babies who are rescues. When I asked Maria if she’s struggled with her weight over the years, she responded, “Weight has honestly been a struggle for me. Even though people say I don’t look heavy, I feel heavy, especially around my stomach and butt. It’s something I’ve always been self-conscious about. I guess it would also fall into low self-esteem as I most times will not feel beautiful or pretty.”
Well, it’s my goal with each session is to show my clients how stunning they are regardless of their weight, pant size, bra size, or any other part of our bodies we love to put a number on. My favorite client to work with is the woman who tells me at her initial phone consult she doesn’t like her pictures being taken because she doesn’t look good in photos, because then I can prove her wrong and get feedback like this:

Months! Honestly, I cannot put a number on it.

What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your photo shoot?
Reviewing the testimonials/reviews left for Shannon is what really made me decide. Each one that I read talked about how wonderful she was to work with, as well everyone talking about their experiences in the private Facebook group.
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the image reveal?
The session and image reveal were equally my favorite! The planning—I don’t mind shopping but I’m also am not a fan of shopping. Plus I never really bought items like this before so I had no idea where to start.
Did you leave your photo shoot worried about your hair/makeup (Maybe you thought the makeup was too dark or your hair didn’t look like you.)?
Nope! I actually found my day-of-wedding look from the shoot!

Did you leave your boudoir experience worried that the posing felt awkward?
Not at all!
What were you more nervous about—the session or the image reveal? Why?
I would say the session just because of the outfits. Not use to wearing something like it in front of other people.
Did you arrive to the image reveal worried if you’d like your images?
I was more excited than nervous.

What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
I was like, “Holy crap!”
If you had been worried about the hair/makeup/posing, did you like what you saw in your portraits?
Very much.
How did shooting this boudoir session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?
Yes! More confident and I proved to myself that I can do things outside of my comfort zone.

Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
I would say yes just because I never liked how I looked, especially in a swimsuit.
Before this experience, did you feel you were photogenic? If no, do you feel you are photogenic now?
I did.
Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
Not being able to connect with them.

Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Yes.
Would you recommend a boudoir photo shoot with Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends?
Over and over again!
Is there anything I could have done to improve upon your experience?
Nope!
