BOBBIE’S BOUDOIR SESSION
Bobbie, a wife and mother to a 4-year old, told me she wanted to do a boudoir session, “As a reward for feeling better, being better, and continuing to nurture relationships, especially with my husband.”
“I went looking for a boudoir photographer due to going through some recent significant life changes as well as rekindling with my husband. I felt like this was a great time to capture how proud I am of all we have been through and where we are today. There are many struggles in life, but when you can sit back and take in all that is you and your perfect imperfections… that is worth saving! I was nervous at first with the cost, but after seeing the reviews and the amount of detail that goes into each session… I jumped in! I am SO glad I did!!! The feeling, the comfort, and the fun experience was well worth it. Knowing all we have been through and then seeing my husband appreciate the results, priceless… I cannot wait to get the album in hand!! Bobbie had so much fun with her one-woman boudoir session that she and her husband booked a couple’s session before she even saw the images from her first session! (The couple’s session is next week.)

How did the reality of your session compare to your expectations going into it?
I had had boudoir photos taken prior by an new photographer (8 years ago), so I had a minor idea of what to expect… That being said, [Shannon’s session] is well above my expectations! Between all of the prep work, the wardrobe consult, and the comfort level when arriving, it was exceptional.
What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the image reveal?
I would say the session itself! It was fun and out of my normal comfort zone, but felt at ease! The image reveal (quick, unedited run through) was also a close front runner… my husband participated with me and it was perfect to be able to share it with him!!
Did you leave your boudoir experience worried that the posing felt awkward?
Lol, I was definitely a bit sore from holding different positions I am not used to being in! But had the utmost confidence in Shannon and also got glimpses of the shots as we were going… She totally knows her stuff!
What were you more nervous about—the session or the image reveal? Why?
Neither really… if anything, maybe the image reveal.
Did you arrive to the image reveal worried if you’d like your images? Why?
Not a bit! Shannon had given me “sneak peeks” during the shoot… I knew they had looked awesome!
What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself?
Love it!! I look amazing!
How did shooting this boudoir session change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident? How has the experience affected your morale?
It was really a fun way to feel proud of myself and who I am as well as show off to my husband.
Would you consider yourself a women who is very critical of herself in photographs? If yes, why are these portraits different from photographs in the past?
Somewhat. There are certain parts of me I am not the biggest fan of, but with the angle of posing and the direction given it really put those areas into a better light.
Before this experience, what concerns did you have in regards to hiring a photographer?
Expense.
Were you surprised at how much fun you had planning your session, shooting your session, and seeing your images?
Yes, it was great all around!!!
Would you recommend a boudoir photo shoot with Shannon Hemauer Photography to your friends? Why or why not?
I absolutely would! It is a confidence building, fun experience every woman should feel. Feeling proud and confident in yourself is priceless and [Shannon and her team] provide that!
Is there anything at all you wish we would have done differently or think we could do to further enhance the experience in the future?
I wish I had thought to as about taking nude photos! Time for next session!
