“Millie” (not her real name) did her boudoir session six months after her wedding. She found doing the photo shoot after her wedding was less stressful plus gave her something to look forward to once the wedding day had come and gone. During the planning process she mentioned to me her husband plays the piano and we wracked our brains on how we could incorporate his love of music into her session—she came up with the idea of holding sheet music to the song they danced to at their wedding, Brad Paisley’s “Then”! I SO love that song (pretty much any song Brad sings) and it was fun trying to figure out how to make sheet music look “sexy”! 🙂 Below you’ll find Millie’s client interview–please take moment to read through her answers and if you can relate to how she was feeling, please contact me today to schedule your consult. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I had thought about doing a session as a wedding gift; however, planning a wedding is stressful enough so I decided against it. I then saw Shannon’s page, “liked” it on Facebook, and decided to take a look at her website. The pictures were very tastefully done. I made the decision then to contact her and get more information—the wedding was over and we were settled into a house together. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir session? I choose Shannon because her website depicted very tasteful boudoir photos. This was something I choose to do for my husband, but I didn’t want the pictures to be extremely revealing or not tasteful. I wanted the pictures to make

How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir/contemporary glamour session and what made you decide now was the time to do one?  I [got] married on November 25th, so I decided it would be a great wedding gift. Over the past 5 years I have worked a lot on myself both physically and mentally, so I wanted to be able to showcase that transformation to myself and my husband. What made you decide Shannon Hemauer was the photographer to work with to do your boudoir/contemporary glamour session?  I heard nothing but excellent reviews from other customers. I also appreciate when a photographer has a speciality, that tends to mean they are pretty good at it! What was your favorite part out of the entire experience? The planning, the session, the reveal?  The actual session was so much fun! I almost never wear makeup, so to have someone do my hair and makeup and see the difference was amazing. What did you think when you saw that first image of yourself? I look good! Ha Ha How did shooting this session with Shannon Hemauer change your outlook on yourself? Are you more confident?  I definitely feel more confident about myself. I am relatively introverted, so this opportunity allowed me to break out of my shell a little bit. Before

Nath | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Nath | Shannon Hemauer Photography

Nath (pronounced “Knot”), my lead stylist since 2014, recently married her sweetheart and as my wedding present to her, I gifted a bridal boudoir session. <3 (You’re welcome, Nath’s husband! 😉 ) She, of course, did her own hair/makeup, plus she brought a beautiful vintage chair with tuffed-gold fabric to use as a prop. I keep trying to get her to let me buy the chair from her—it would be perfect for the new studio! But, alas, she will not part from it. Nath is a shoe gal, so I totally expected her to have a great pair of heels—she did not disappoint! And she has spent the last year working out hard with a personal trainer in order to get in top shape for her wedding day, and all of her hard work shows in her boudoir portraits!! Such a beautiful bride! Nath planned her entire outfit around the necklace she’s wearing in this next image. I wish Nath and Jake a lifetime of joy together! Boudoir | Shannon Hemauer Photography Carlisle, PA

In case you’ve been wondering why I haven’t posted since August 19th, it’s because I’m happy to announce I was busy getting the new Carlisle studio furnished and ready to open on September 1st. While the past three years shooting at my home have been rewarding, I’m truly in love with my new studio space. The studio is the entire third floor of the house, there is a dedicated hair/makeup station, a changing area, a coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar, and the floors are original to the 1860’s home. It’s a warm and airy space and I’m excited to see what art I’ll create there. So! Enough about that! Let’s chat about Kim. I have for a very long time wanted to photograph a ballerina, and Kim offered me that chance! Kim got married this past March and hadn’t had a chance to do a boudoir session for her now-husband before their wedding, so shortly after saying I DO, she reached out to me because she decided boudoir portraits would be a great 30th birthday present to her hubby. During the planning process for her boudoir session, somehow it came up she used to do ballet—after I stopped jumping up and down with excitement, I asked her if she’d pose for a few shots for me wearing her Pointe shoes. EEK! She said yes! Below is her client questionnaire, with of course images from her session. Please take a moment to look through and read what she wrote—you may just relate to what she said. How long have you been wanting to do a boudoir session and what made you decide now was the time to do one? I have been researching boudoir shoots for about 6 months before I booked with Shannon. I found the idea while I was planning my
